Humbug is one of the darkest (and described by fans, the most intimate) Arctic Monkey's album. Released on August 19, 2009, Humbug went from "the punk-influenced sound of the band" to having "a desert/surf and ambient tone."
This album is considered slower and more "hushed" than the Monkey's first two albums. Experimenting with xylophones, glockenspiels, and shakers, Humbug topped the UK Albums Chart and became the band's most important record.
For fans, this album provided a lot of meme content, especially with the iconic music video of "Cornerstone".
