High school is a turbulent time for everyone. People are trying to figure out who they are and what they like. For me I experimented with many genres! I mainly enjoyed musicals (especially about death), and romance. The three movies that I loved in High School were Little Shop of Horrors, Sweeney Todd and I.Q. Little shop of Horrors was the first musical I listened to and I loved it! My mum and I made a nice November morning where we drank tea and watched Little Shop of Horrors together. However, I did my research before watching the movie. I made sure my mum and I watched the director’s cut, with the original Broadway ending so my favorite character got to win.

Another murder-y musical I enjoyed was Sweeny Todd. Sweeny Todd was the first “horror” movie I watched. I loved the acting from Johnny Dept and the other actors I recognized and the ending was satisfying yet terrible. I remember an art project I made, where I had to take a screenshot of a movie and draw it exactly how it is. I chose the scene where Todd is raising his razor and saying “At last! My arm is complete.” It took me 18 hours and it is still my favorite charcoal drawing I’ve ever made.

Finally, I.Q is a sweet little movie about a mechanic who falls in love with Einstein’s niece and has to pretend to be an astrophysicist to impress her. This movie was wonderful! I loved the pacing, the comedic acting, and Einstein and his friends were hysterical.

“Don’t worry uncle, I can do it myself.”

“I’m telling you, honey, she meant nothing to me. Nothing at all!”

“Excuse me .. Doctor.”
