Lord of the Rings would have had the same fate as the Star Wars movies. I had gone years without watching them. I remember my oldest brother watching them in the morning when I wanted to play the Wii. My dad and brothers would watch them during dinner, but I was on my computer, one look away from watching them. I had gone a long time without watching Lord of the Rings, but one weekend visit my oldest brother decided to change that. My oldest brother had just moved out and he visited every weekend, and one weekend he was determined to have me watch all of the Lord of the Rings movies, Extended Editions.

That 3-day weekend my oldest brother practically duct taped me to the couch and turned on the movies. If you disregard the fact that I was forced to watch them, it was a fun weekend. I actually liked the movies, even if it took me nearly an hour to find them interesting. The only infuriating thing my brother did was every time I got up, he paused the movie. Every. Single. Time. Even through he forced me to watch the movies, I still love him and now get all the references and memes, which I appreciate.

“That still only counts as one!”

“One of you must do this.”

“Looks like meats back on the menu boys!”
